Want to Win Tickets to See The Broncos in the Superbowl?

Yes, I know, wishful thinking...but you can still win tickets to this year's Superbowl - go here to register.

At least I can probably see the Broncos win the AFC West (or Worst) in the next couple weeks (if not this Sunday against Carolina!)

2nd Chances are Good but eh?

Okay, so it's Friday night and I am giving "Inside the NFL" one more chance. So far, not glued to it, have switched to Ducks game and had a lengthy phone conversation with a friend. Safe to say I am not riveted (like I used to be.) Sorry guys, but you just don't have that magic the show had for 30+ years!

Chris - you do what you do (on a lot of stations) and I am fine with it, don't love you in the Costas role..sorry dude.
Warren - like your on field attitude and your fancy footwork, but eh not loving you here.
Phil - keep calling games - you are great at it!
JB - you are a career moderator and that's fine for CBS of Fox but you're filling big shoes here.

Peter King where are you? I miss you so much. Come back to TV.

Week 10 Craziness

I watched the first half of the Thursday game on NFL Network with a feeling of pending doom as Denver lost more key players. Would we really go down to Cleveland and a rookie QB? What a relief with Royal (with Cheese) made a huge TD and then we recovered a fumble (and actually scored on it.)

It was a much-needed win and Broncos fans rejoiced all over the world including twitter and facebook!

Now let's discuss the Monday night game...I found myself pulling for the 49ers (even though I had a lot to gain by an Arizona win) and it was a great game! Save for some bad playcalling at the end, the 49ers really impressed me. I hope this is finally the beginning of a new era for them, it's been a long time coming. I picked them this week against Seattle...hope they pull it off.

I'd like to thank the Oakland Raiders for keeping me in my eliminator pool...I need you guys to do it again on Sunday please.

Great game tonight in New England...I took the Jets...Go Brett!

NFL Fans Everywhere are Scratching their Heads

Strike up a conversation with any football fan lately and you get the same reaction...this season is so wierd?! Personally, I love how things are shaping up, despite my Broncos' lasckluster performances. It's nice to NOT have a clear cut winner by week 8. I love the parody and the mistery as to which teams will make the post season.

While watching last night's game, everyone had the same thought...what happend to Indy? Are they really that banged up? Remember with Peyton Manning could carry the entire team to victory and make it look easy? I am thrilled for Tennessee Titans fans, but am no where near ready to declare them the best team in the NFL. Are you?

My absolute favorite point to make with other fans is this...remember how a lot of folks were declaring the Raiders as this season's sleeper team? Ha! I was saying it then and I'll repeat it now...a sleeper team is a team that sneaks up on you in the season! It cannot be predicted. I never believed Raiders would be this year's sleeper team (and not just because I am a Broncos fan.) I just believe you cannot predict those things.

Now, St. Louis? They are sneaking a bit. But still too soon to know which team will be this year's surprise. I do, however, look forward to finding out. God bless the NFL & all who love it!

Monday Night Match-up: Denver at New England

Recovering from stomach flu for 4 day so my Broncos jersey is a little loose...but my guys are tight! Come on boys, make me proud tonight! You win, I win (my pool!)

Cutler to Marshall, for touchdown & Denver recovers and takes it home (that's what I hope to hear all night long.)

Week 5 Sunday Highlights - New Cutler Jersey, New Defense & 12 Innings of Baseball

Following last week's devistating loss to Kansas City I figured my John Lynch jersey needed to be retired and so I went to NFL Shop and ordered myself a Cutler jersey. I figure he's pretty amazing and doesn't look like he'll be going anywhere too soon. I'd like to have a jersey that lasts a few years!

So we go into Week 5 at 3-1, a top ranked offense and poop on a stick defense. In my opinion, our defense is suffering because Lynch is gone. Against Tampa Bay that can be problematic but I am optimistic. Fortunately, my Cutler jersey arrived on Saturday in the nick of time. Also arriving was a Denver D I had not seen previously. A major relief. So fortunately for Broncos fans, they scratched, clawed and sacked their way to a victory, still alive and dominating a shakey AFC West. Can't say anything good for the Chargers, sorry babe. Seriously though, going for it on 4th in the first half when it's a 7 point game? That is just bad coaching.

Around the league, NY Giants dominated, we need to keep an eye on the World champs. I was watching the NFL Countdown show on ESPN Sunday am and they were commenting on how fantastic Coughlin's disciplinary style is for a team. Does anyone remember his first year in NY and how hated he was for that? Apparently, that team needed it, it worked and everyone likes it now.

Back to bad coaching...does anyone believe Wade Phillips is a great coach? And while we're speaking of Parcells...he is the man! Have you been watching Miami? That has to be all Bill Parcells! I wish he could hang out in Washington DC for a season and not with the Redskins...are you with me?

So Sunday was a good day, not as many close calls and OT as in previous weeks, but then there was the American League Division Series between Angels and Red Sox. Talk about a nail biter, I was having a heart attack! Fly ball to center with 3 outfielders - couldn't a little league player call that and get it right? Just sayin.

Fortunately 12 innings and a lot of wine later, the Angels managed to stay alive another day (so Palin-esque) and tonight we get another shot to bring the series back to L.A.

Raider Fans are Jumping Ship

I am so not a Raider fan but I do feel for Lane Kiffin. Hopefully, his fate will be as brilliant as Mike Shanahan. Today, however, I received one of the funniest emails ever, forwarded to me by my nephew, which he received from his wife's, cousin's, brother's, aunt's husband or something like that. Anyway, it's hysterical...

It’s official; I’m resigning my membership in the Raider Nation effective immediately. My resignation shall be in effect through the duration of Al Davis’s life on earth. Yes, I will consider becoming a Raiders fan again when that man dies. In case you were busy watching the stock market today, Al Davis fired Lane Kiffin, the head coach of the Raiders, after only 4 games into the season. Worse, he is refusing to pay Mr. Kiffin the balance of his contract and preparing for a lengthy (and costly) legal battle as he did when he fired Mike Shanahan back in 1995 (Shanahan won the lawsuit and subsequently 2 Super Bowls with Granada Hills High’s finest.)

During the next few days I will consider accepting fandomship in other team’s of the national football league. It will not be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Any team named after a body of water and not an actual city is automatically disqualified. I will pay extra consideration to teams located in the State in which I was born and raised (where most people should find their teams.) Teams that left the region such as the Rams or other teams with a 0-4 record will also not be considered. The decision to incinerate all Raider paraphernalia currently owned is being considered.

A resolution not to adorn or otherwise display such paraphernalia has commenced. However, I still retain the right to observe Raider competitions and root against the opponent. Sadly, the day has finally come, I am no longer a Raider fan. How long will my Al Davis life estate in non-Raider fandomship last? Only the grim reaper knows….

For more laughs, you can read about Al Davis' latest trip to dementia Island here.

Week 3 - A Nail Biter

Yesterday was another fantastic day for professional football including some OT and some that came dangerously close to the wire, including one in Denver. I have to hand it to New Orleans, I never would have guessed the score to be 34-32 - crazy! We started out so strong and then they just kept coming until they were on our heels.

I'd like to personally thank Gramatica for missing (sorry dude.)

3-0 is a great start and I am thrilled to be atop the AFC West - let's hope for my husband's sanity the Chargers can get a win tonight.

Blame the Bad Call, Not the Fans

I am a Denver Broncos fan and I am thrilled we won on Sunday, but please don't blame us fans for the bad call by Ed Hochuli. Cutler obviously fumbled, which could have saved San Diego, but thank God for Shanahan's bold call to go for two! At least there was something to for us to very proud of, rather than keep talking about the call (which I am sure we'll still be talking about in 09 and beyond.)

As the wife of a Chargers fan I can tell you that life in my house on Sunday was not fun. I repeat, NOT FUN. I won't be hearing the end of this for 15+ weeks!

As for Ed Hochuli, I have to believe he thought he made the right call, because this was so unlike him. I kind of feel bad for him because he's lost so much credibility from all this. Calls like this will most likely qualify to be overturned next season.

For us fans, just let us enjoy our 2-0 division start. We clearly have a great team and we earned our points. Don't blame us for a lucky break on a call. And please, please let Cutler enjoy his amazing start!

Inside the NFL on Showtime? Who Knew?

Great advertising Showtime. Seriously, how was I to know that's where my favorite weekly NFL analysis show went? According to this press release Inside the NFL is now on Showtime every Wednesday - new hosts though. I'll for sure check it out. Still produced with NFL Films so I am hoping it will have the same integrity. I just hope Peter King is still on!

HBO's "Inside the NFL": 31 Years of Greatness

Okay, so for sure I did not watch Inside the NFL on HBO for 31 years but certainly for the last 10+ years. It has been by far my favorite NFL show and I am truly going to miss it. I can't quite understand why they pulled it? A couple years ago I actually appeared on Inside the NFL in a skit with Wanda Sykes - that was awesome! If you know why my favorite show is gone, can you please shine some light for me? NFL and Fox Sports shows have to have a smaller audience right? A damn shame.

I'll end with a nod to Bob Costas and I'll 'say something' THANKS FOR THE MOST ENTERTAINING LOOK AT THE GAMES, LOTS OF LAUGHS AND GREAT INSIGHT. GO BRONCOS.

Where Better to Watch Favre's Jets Debut than New York!

Had to got New York for work this week and had to be there by Monday so of course I flew on Saturday so I could see Week One. It was a long day on Saturday because Hurricane Hanna was dumping rain on the East Coast and NY was in the path. So I arrived a bit late but still plenty of time for a great dinner and wine with a friend.

Sunday my friend assures me she's done the recon and has a sports bar for me to watch the games. She (not an NFL gal) is even coming with me and she's invited her other friend who IS an NFL gal. We arrive at Bounce Deuce just before 1pm (you get to sleep in on Sunday in NY!) and belly up to the bar where I am quite sure I'll still be standing at 8pm. I was right.

Week one was crazy! Brady out for the Season, what? I thought for sure my eliminator pick was toast. Fortunately, Pats came through (it was KC after all) and I am thinking good thoughts for Brady. As an AFC fan it doesn't suck for the Pats to have a handicap.

I have watched the games in bars for years, usually surrounded by irate Raider fans (L.A. and all) but I loved watching in NY. Despite my purse getting snatched (and returned, thanks to special agent Ryan!) the fans were awesome and watching Favre take the Jets to 1-0 start with Jets fans was great! I kept thinking about the gross Jets fans at my Manhattan Beach bar (they are jerks) and how glad I was to be far away from them.

Best thing about Bounce? The bartenders! Layla & the gals rocked! We had amazing service but mostly we just had fun. Thanks girls, you rock!
I'll be back in December, save me a spot at the bar.

Football is Back!

Watched the game tonight between Washington and NY Giants. Not much to say about it except that it was on and I am happy the season is here.

Traveling to NYC this week and hoping to find a decent place to watch the games on Sunday (please send me any good suggestions.) Monday night I will be watching the first game wherever they have good food and a tv, then for my Broncos I'll most likely be in bed since it starts at 10:15 ET.

Good luck to all you fantasy players and enjoy the games!

Not My Lynch!

Okay, so I am a little behind, but I was in Europe for nearly 3 weeks when all this went down. And let's face it, football is not the same there. I am so bummed that the Denver Broncos let John Lynch go on August 1 (let's add his jerseys to my pile of former players) and to find out that the Patriots picked him up makes it hurt even more.

Lynch was my favorite player on the Broncos the last few seasons, did you notice I wrote jersey(s)? I am gonna really miss him, but alas I have learned to trust Shanahan and I look forward to some great games this year.

We are less than 2 weeks out till the start of the 08/09 Season! I will be in NY for Sunday football week one - any suggestions on where to watch the games?

Not Lame, Just Busy and It's Off Season After All

I am pledging to do a better job of posting here. I can't believe how long it's been! It's not like when the Broncos were eliminated from Post Season I just stopped caring. I swear!

My birthday falls on Superbowl (or around it) every year and this year was as big one, so I was pretty much drunk during the whole game. I will always remember the upset, it's the details that are a little fuzzy.

Okay, so now we all look forward to next season (it's only 3 months away!) and we all love the clean slate. I am looking forward the Broncos'"BROJO" yes that's my word! I am excited about the Bailey bros combo.

Shout out to Cutler - stay on top of your health and you should do great! Shanahan, show me the post season!

Another New England Superbowl...Do We Care?

The only thing that's got me excited about this year's Superbowl is a great new site called Jinx the Jock. It started as a Jessica Romo bashing site and has progressed. Other than that I don't care about watching another New England game. I get it, they are the best ever. Can we skip the rest and just give them the trophy now? Cuz the only thing worse than their winning again would be watching Eli Manning win - yuck!

This past Sunday I was totally cheering for Favre, I am so bummed he's not playing, then it would at least be exciting. Sorry Giants fans, I appreciate you love your team but I just hate Manning. I do like Strahan though.

I definitely have other things to look forward to on the big day, one of which is my birthday - a big one - and a house full of fun people. Plus the Superbowl 5k and beer garden kicks off the day so the rest is a blur anyway.

It's always sad when the season ends but at least I won a little money and I have high hopes for Jay Cutler in the coming years. Just hope that Lynch stays another year. The good thing about the season ending is that summer is on its way!

Another Great Reason We Should All be Raiders Fans - Whistle Tip Day

No there's not really a whistle tip day at the colliseum, but wouldn't it be delicious?

Haven't heard of Whistle Tips? It's more popular in Oakland than hating Randy Moss!

Enjoy.
